Pricing

Simple prices in US dollars. Transcription is priced by the audio hour — translating, summarising and exporting it are included. AI tools for a study come with a Study Pass ($39, one study, 12 months) or a monthly plan. Planning, sample size, survey data analysis, coding by hand and exports are free.

For comparison, professional human transcription typically costs $30–60 or more per audio hour.

Get it in a project

Bought from the study’s Overview (by card); refundable within 14 days. Every account can try the AI tools first: 2 AI analysis runs and 1 form conversion. Monthly plans include it: Researcher for 1 study a month, Project for 3 — the study you use AI in first each month.

What your study needs

The literature search, study design and sample size, coding by hand, survey analysis and every export are free. What you pay for depends on the study’s design.

Qualitative

Interviews, focus groups, observation notes

You pay for

  • Audio hours to transcribe ($8 an hour, or a monthly plan)
  • AI coding, themes and drafts: a Study Pass ($39) or a monthly plan

Example: 10 one-hour interviews over two months — the Researcher plan ($29 × 2 = $58) covers the hours and the AI tools.

Quantitative

Surveys, cohorts, records — any table of data

You pay for

  • Kobo/ODK forms beyond the free one, and the AI drafts (literature review, discussion): a Study Pass ($39)

Example: a household survey — the sample size, data checks, tables, tests and regression are free; one Study Pass ($39) covers the forms and drafts.

Mixed methods

Both, brought together

You pay for

  • Audio hours for the interviews
  • One Study Pass ($39) covers the AI tools for both strands and the joint display

Example: a survey plus 8 interviews — 8 audio hours ($64) and one Study Pass ($39), or the Researcher plan for a month or two.

Institutions: from $250 a month for 60 audio hours and the AI tools for every study, with shared access for a team. Get in touch.

Questions

What counts as an audio hour?

One hour of recording, counted by what is actually transcribed. Translating, summarising, anonymising and exporting it don’t use more hours.

What happens when my hours run out?

Your recordings and transcripts stay as they are. A recording longer than the time you have left is transcribed up to that point, and the rest is clearly marked. Buy hours or choose a plan to carry on.

Do hours expire?

Pay-as-you-go hours never expire. A monthly plan’s hours are for that month and don’t carry over.

Can I cancel a monthly plan?

Yes, at any time, from your Account page (Your hours → Receipts, card and cancelling). The plan stays active until the end of the month you’ve paid for.

What is the Study Pass, and do I need it?

It unlocks the AI tools for one study for 12 months: AI coding and themes, the findings draft, the questionnaire draft and its translation, Kobo/ODK forms from questionnaires, the mixed-methods draft, the evidence table, literature review and discussion, and AI screening suggestions for a systematic review. You don’t need it for transcription (that’s audio hours), coding by hand, finding papers, the planner, survey data analysis, the full report or exports. A monthly plan includes it for 1 or 3 studies a month.

Can I get a refund?

Unused hours, and a Study Pass, are refundable within 14 days of the purchase. A failed or cancelled transcription never counts against your hours. The Refund Policy has the details.
