Terms of Use

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These terms explain, in plain language, what you can expect from Researchite and what we expect from you. By creating an account or using Researchite, you agree to them.

What Researchite does

Researchite is a toolkit for researchers. It turns recorded interviews and focus groups into transcripts, and can improve, translate, summarise, and export them. It also includes a sample size and study planning calculator. Transcripts, translations, and summaries are produced by artificial intelligence (AI).

Researchite is newly launched. Features, limits, and how the service works may change as it develops; we will update these terms when they do.

Researchite is run by Tesfahun Mulatu Wachamo, as a sole proprietor. “We” and “us” in these terms means Tesfahun Mulatu Wachamo, operating Researchite.

Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account.
  • Give a real email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • An account is for one person. Don’t share it.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

Your recordings and research ethics

You may only upload or record recordings you have the right to use. In particular, before you upload — or record in Researchite — you must:

  • have the informed consent of the people recorded — for being recorded, and for the recording to be processed by online services, including AI services, as described in our Privacy Policy;
  • have any ethics approval your research requires (for example from an institutional review board or ethics committee), and follow its conditions;
  • follow the data protection and privacy laws that apply to you and to the people you recorded.

You are responsible for your research data and for the decisions you make with it. Where possible, avoid recording or keeping information that identifies participants beyond what your study needs.

When you share a project, the people you add can read and export every recording in it. Share only with people your consent forms and ethics approval allow to see the data, and remove them when they no longer need it.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Researchite to:

  • upload or make recordings unlawfully, such as secret recordings where that is against the law;
  • upload content that is illegal, or that harasses, threatens, or exploits anyone;
  • get around the free trial or daily limits, for example with several accounts, temporary email addresses, or automated scripts;
  • disrupt, overload, or try to break into the service or other people’s accounts;
  • resell or provide the service to others as your own without our written agreement.

AI results can be wrong — check them

AI transcription and translation are not perfect. Results can contain wrong words, wrong speakers, wrong timings, missing parts, or translations that change the meaning. Summaries and themes can leave out or misstate points, and Anonymise can miss identifying details. Check the results against your recording before you rely on them, share them, quote them, or publish them.

The sample size calculator is a planning aid. Check important study designs with a qualified statistician. Nothing Researchite produces is professional, legal, or medical advice.

Your content belongs to you

You keep all rights to the recordings you upload and to the transcripts, translations, and summaries made from them. You give us permission to store and process them only so that we can provide the service to you. We don’t sell your content, and we don’t use it for anything else.

To provide the service we use other companies: Google (sign-in, website hosting, storage, and the Gemini AI models), Trigger.dev (background processing), Resend (emails), and Paddle (payments). Our Privacy Policy explains what they receive and how long your data is kept.

Limits and availability

Each account has a free trial and daily limits, shown under the upload area. We work to keep Researchiterunning and your data safe, but we can’t promise the service will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of important work — you can download all your data from your Account page at any time.

Fees

Every account gets a free trial of 20 minutes of transcription, once per person, which needs a confirmed email address. After that, transcription is paid at the prices on the Pricing page. You will never be charged without first choosing a plan and agreeing to its price. Card and other online orders are conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for those orders and handles payments, sales tax, receipts and refunds. In Ethiopia you can also pay in birr with Telebirr, directly to us: the hours are added once we’ve confirmed the payment arrived, and a month paid this way lasts 30 days and doesn’t renew. Pay-as-you-go hours don’t expire; monthly plans paid by card renew automatically each month until you cancel, and plan hours don’t carry over to the next month. Unused hours can be refunded within 14 days of purchase — see our Refund Policy. The sample size calculator stays free.

Ending your use

You can stop using Researchite and delete your account and all its data at any time from your Account page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why where we can.

Our responsibility

Researchite is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, lost data, or decisions made based on the results. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and let you know when you next use Researchite. Using it after a change means you accept the updated terms.
